Quick answer

Sublingual (under the tongue) absorption bypasses first-pass liver metabolism, but only for lipid-soluble compounds and only if held under the tongue for 60 to 90 seconds before swallowing. For most botanical extracts, capsule absorption via the gastrointestinal tract is comparable in total uptake but slower in onset. Drops with an MCT carrier may improve absorption of fat-soluble actives.
